It only happens first thing in the morning.

Normal starting during the day is fine. I need to glow twice but I think thats a separate issue. Cold Start. I glow twice, turn engine over and it jumps to life quickly. After about 3 seconds, I hear the click of a relay and the engine cuts out. I restart glowing only once and its fine. Recenlty I had a new starter relay installed but Im pretty sure thats on a separate circuit it had this problem before anyway.

2h Turbo upgrade or 12ht

Home Forums Vehicle Specific 60 Series. David86 New Member. Sep 29, 8 0 6. Hello all, I have just registered and this is my first thread. I bought a 60 series Sahara a few months ago for a good deal. The engine needed work but everything else was in great condition.

Due to time restraints, I ended up replacing the motor rather than rebuilding the original one with a rebuilt exchange from a supplier in Victoria and I'm happy to say that the vehicle is now run in at kms and running great with just a few minor exceptions. I have driven these vehicles before so I knew what sort of power to expect, but mine seems to be a bit more sluggish than I'd hoped. I'm yet to fully adjust the fuel timing which will help, but I was wondering about an aftermarket turbo.

I know that as the engine is new it should maintain reliability if I install an aftermarket turbo, but any experiences that other club members have had regarding this would be much appreciated. What is the max psi allowable with a stock 2h? Is it 5psi? I've also found a 12ht for sale but as I have just bought and installed a rebuilt 2h I'd rather not have to buy another motor although I know the 12ht has legendary status. Also, any advice anyone has regarding parts suppliers would be great as there are a few mainly cosmetic items that I require.

Thanks in advance for your help. Nov 19, 4, 1, Sheffield S.

Many recommend using synthetic oil to avoid the problem. In some situations, oil additives are burned off or destroyed; then oxidation occurs and pollutants congregate in the oil, producing sludge and varnish.

The volume of rubbish in the engine could plug filters, the oil pickup screen, and oil passages, causing other parts to fail. Toyota extended warranties on affected engines to eight years and unlimited miles, though they originally blamed the owners, and for a time refused to pay at all for engine damage.

Mercedes, incidentally, raised their warranty tomiles after a lawsuit. Here is Toyota's new policy. The moral: keep your oil change receipts or have oil changes done by a dealer and use synthetic oil.

Toyota wrote that it "is taking this action because a very small number of customers have reported engine damage from motor oil breakdown, also known as oil gelling or 'sludging,' a result of oil change intervals delayed beyond the factory-recommended schedule.

While any make vehicle can suffer from this condition if the oil is not changed often enough, Toyota has initiated this program to ensure owner peace of mind. Toyota continued: "To make sure that customers have absolute confidence in their vehicles, this program will cover repair costs and incidental expenses for which a customer has paid or could incur as a result of damage due to oil gelling for a period of eight years from the date of first sale or lease without a mileage limitation.

In addition to the costs of repairs, reasonable incidental expenses, such as car rental, and other out-of-pocket expenses will be covered. All parts required in service have to be returned to Toyota, or dealers will not get paid. Here is what they need to replace:. The customer needs to pay for any wear items replaced in the process, such as the timing belt not a bad time to do it and spark plugs. Consider it to be an opportunity to have maintenance done without small or nonexistent labor charges.

Toyota has produced a wide variety of automobile engines, including inline-four and V6 engines. The company follows a simple naming system for their modern engines:.

Note: Other manufacturers may modify the engine after it has left the Toyota factory but the engine still keeps the original Toyota designation. The use of "G" to denote twin cam engines was decided on inwith the renaming of the 10R into 8R-G.

Before, twin cams had received new numerical codes. Starting in untilToyota established a separate dealership in Japan dedicated to cars and trucks installed with diesel engines, called Toyota Diesel Store. When the dealership was disbanded, diesel products are now available at all locations, with commercial products exclusive to Toyota Store and Toyopet Store locations. In my past experience these mongrel pre chamber engines get hot with turbo charging and will only tolerate deg phyro temp. The 12HT is a bolt up option and has over come the short falls of the 2H in turbo form.

The fuel pump and injectors were the worst. Originally Posted by Grover Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:. Bookmarks Bookmarks Google.
